Our first meeting is completely free, with no strings attached — it’s simply a chance to feel if there’s a click between us. This conversation can take place at your home, online, or at my practice, and usually lasts about 40 minutes. We’ll talk through your wishes, questions and any concerns, previous birth experiences, what you can expect from me as your doula, and my way of working and availability.

With a strong birth team, we work toward the birth experience you envision

Personal attention during your pregnancy

During your pregnancy we meet several times to get to know each other well, so you become fully comfortable with my presence. In 1 to 3 extensive, personal preparation sessions (depending on the package you choose) I make sure you are well informed and prepared for the birth. You will receive plenty of information about the physiological process of giving birth, so you understand what is happening in your body. You will know what options are available in different situations, so you can make your own choices. Your birth partner learns various tools to support you lovingly and practically during the birth. Together we build a solid foundation of valuable information and practical tools, so you can welcome your baby with confidence and as a team. We also draw up your birth preferences together, and I guide you in expanding your body awareness through massage, various relaxation exercises, mindfulness, and practising different birthing positions. You will experience how you relax best and how you ‘sink’ into your body, so that trust in your own body and the bond with your baby grow.

Continuous support during your birth

I am on call from 38 weeks until the birth. During that time I am reachable and available for you by phone, 24/7. Whenever you would like me to come, I am generally with you within 1.5 to 2 hours. You are, of course, my priority, and it is my role as your doula to be your first point of contact. During your birth I support you in a loving and gentle way: helping you through contractions, listening, giving massage, arranging practical matters, and reassuring you. I also support your partner, so you can experience the birth together. I stay for about 2 hours after the birth, usually until you have showered and are lying in a clean bed with your baby in your arms.

Settling into the postpartum period

Your wellbeing and your partner’s wellbeing during the postpartum period directly affect your baby’s wellbeing. During this important transition, I am available via the app for up to 6 weeks for questions and advice, and of course for sharing a photo and an update. In consultation and at your own pace, we will schedule a postpartum visit to look back together on the birth and take a moment for this special phase!

My approach

I combine scientifically grounded insights with practical, body-focused techniques and warm, personal guidance:

Because every woman is unique, we explore together what helps you relax and how you can stay in control with a flexible mindset. We do this by expanding your knowledge of the physiological birth process and the choices you have during a clinical birth, as well as by practising different birthing positions and breathing and mindfulness techniques.
Learn to see your thoughts and feelings in a different light. This creates a sense of grip on the unknown and unexpected. Together we rewrite the story you tell yourself, so you can move from fear to trust.
Mindfulness helps you stay present in the moment during birth and move with whatever changes come. Through conscious attention and acceptance you develop a flexible mindset, so you can respond better to unexpected situations and choices. This creates space to release tension and experience calm, however your birth unfolds. This way you stay calmer and more connected to yourself, your body and your baby.
I practise and support you and your birth partner with various acupressure and massage techniques that help you relax and regulate. You will also practise supportive birthing positions together for optimal space in your pelvic area.

Breathing techniques help you find calm and relaxation during birth, even in intense moments. By breathing consciously, you can reduce tension, manage pain better and support the natural progress of the birth. It brings focus and confidence, and helps you move with each contraction instead of fighting it. For many women, their breath — sometimes combined with a sound, mantra or visualisation — offers enormous support during birth.

Together we work on calming your nervous system for an optimal hormone flow. You learn self-regulation through meditation, visualisation and systemic exercises. And I offer co-regulation as a calm, skilled and loving presence alongside you and your partner during your pregnancy, birth and postpartum period.

The doula effect!

During your pregnancy and birth:

  • More calm in your mind and relaxation in your body
  • A sense of safety, even in tense moments
  • A positive, supported birth experience
  • More connection with your (birth) partner
  • Less chance of medical interventions or assisted deliveries
