Iris van Wijk
Hi! I’m Iris. Born in 1984 and mother of 4 children. I live happily with my family in Haarlem. In my working life I’ve been a teacher and researcher for over 10 years, specialising in how we can bring about sustainable transformations in future energy systems. As a doula, CRKBO-registered trainer, holistic massage therapist, and vallei-coach, that’s funnily enough also my overarching theme – just applied to our body and inner world. Because by first connecting with what you want and feel, you learn to tune in better to yourself and others. Alongside this, I also love supporting the learning journey of aspiring doulas as a teacher at the Doula Opleiding Utrecht (doula training institute).
My son Bram was stillborn in 2009. How I relate to this love and this loss has shaped who I am. I’ve experienced what fear can mean (during births), but also how we can tap into the wisdom and strength that lives within our bodies.
I’m a real people-person and I’m passionate about dancing, travelling with my family, swimming in the sea, silversmithing, and I’m curious about what gives other people that sparkle in their eyes.

My support focuses on deepening your body awareness and connection throughout your pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. By building a good bond of trust, more knowledge about the physiological processes of your body, humour, mindfulness, gentle bodywork, meditation, creativity, and massage. Together we explore what feels right for you. So that your trust in your body grows and the bond with yourself and your baby flourishes.
All adventures start small…
Love, Iris

My support focuses on expanding your body awareness (whether during your pregnancy or another stage of life). By building a good bond of trust, more knowledge about the physiological processes of your body, humour, mindfulness, (movement) meditation, creativity, and massage, we search together for what feels right for you.
